The 17th Annual South Metro Development Outlook (SMDO) Conference was held at the Georgia International Convention Center on Thursday, February 21, 2019. The conference serves as a platform to convene elected officials and industry professionals with a common interest in examining and discussing relevant growth-related issues in the southern crescent.
Kerry Armstrong, Chairman, Atlanta Regional Commission and Managing Director / Development Partner at Pope & Land Real Estate, served as Moderator of the South Metro Economic Development Highlights session. The discussion’s emphasis was on the growth and development in South Metro that has been evident over the years and easily seen from each corner within each city and county. Real-world examples of how government agencies have grown more sophisticated in their approach to retaining, attracting, and stimulating investment in South Metro Communities was a central part of the discussion. Featured was conversation on new and emerging economic development projects in South Metro. The panel was comprised of six economic development leaders from the City of Atlanta, Fulton County and others.
